Mary Market Designs is the culmination of thirty-seven years experience in graphic design and information technology. It is the artistic venue created in 2005 for the purpose of helping others fulfill their creative endeavors on the world wide web. Mary Market Designs is a team of fully qualified professionals. We maintain relationships within a network of other designers, programmers, teachers, information technologists, and other web business professionals to keep abreast of current trends in web technology.
We are located in Gresham, Oregon, but can work for you entirely via world wide web if needed.
Mary is first and foremost an artist and designer who has experience in a wide array of occupational industries. She has a broad understanding of how the creative process is used in industry, as well as the business application of commercial art. She has used this creative process in a variety of occupations such as commercial printing, publishing, high tech manufacturing, education, and office management since the early 1980's.
Mary currently works in Creative Services as a Graphic Web Designer at TriMet in Portland, Oregon. She does a variety of projects including performing maintenance, design, photography, branding and promotional activities on the web. She also is the web developer and graphic designer for New Beginnings Christian Center in Gresham, Oregon. She owns and operates Mary Market Designs during her 'off' hours as a freelance consultant, graphic designer, and web technologist.
Mary holds a Master of Education from George Fox University where she specialized in educational and business information technology. She majored in English and Education at Warner Pacific College where she received her BA and teaching credentials in Language Arts. She also holds two Associate of Applied Science degrees in Vocational Education and Commercial Art (now known as Graphic Design) from Portland Community College. She attended Mt. Hood Community College where she acquired professional coursework in web technology and computer information science.
The background art and other snippets are somewhat inspired by several of my favorite artists: Henri Rousseau (who often used vegetation in his art mixed with animals and humans), Pablo Picasso (who was twentieth century's most profound abstract artist in my humble opinion), and Claude Monet (my favorite Impressionist artist who often included the beauty of flowers in his paintings).
I created Monami as digital art with Photoshop in 2005. It is an expression of my bold, yet reserved personality. It reflects my desire to stay alert and be aware of the beauty of my surroundings, and to allow the creation to be the focus and not myself. This is what I desire to bring to those I serve.
During the 1980's, Mary worked closely with the Newberg Chamber of Commerce as a freelance artist. She worked closely with local businesses performing window dressings, window art, commercial print publications, and newspaper ads. She also created political literature for a local candidate during one campaign. During this time she worked as a commercial artist and pre-press technician in the newspaper, print, and publishing venues.
Mary went back to college in the 1990's to continue her design and technical education. She taught art, graphic communications, publications (yearbook and journalism), and other creative electives at the junior high and high school level for 7 years.
In 2000, Mary shifted her interests to software engineering. She became employed at Credence Systems Corporation as a technician. She later advanced to Project Manager for the Software Engineering Release Department. Mary pursued a software engineering degree until the internet and web grabbed her attention and led her away to web design and technology.
